1 Day

Almaty Arrival to Almaty. Border crossing procedures. Meet and greet service. Almaty city tour. This day is dedicated to a guided tour of Almaty. The tour starts with sightseeing in central part of Almaty: Republic and Independence square, Opera and Ballet theatre, Astana and Abay square, Arbat walking and shopping street. 13:00 Lunch at the local restaurant. After lunch visiting the Kok-Tobe hill where the tallest TV tower in the world is located and where you will get by the picturesque winding mountain road. The tour continues with the short ride from the top of the hill to the center of the city by the famous Almaty cableway. You will visit a popular place for locals - the Green Bazaar. It is the great chance to experience an atmosphere of the real eastern market, its colors, smells and crowds. Also you will visit Rakhat's chocolate factory retail outlet. Rakhat is the oldest manufactures of chocolates dating back to almost 70 years. They also make chocolates for people suffering from diabetes and their low-calorie products like candies, cookies and waffles are a range among the people and tourists. 18:00 Dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

2 Day

Alma arasan gorge 10:00 Meeting with your guide-driver at the hotel lobby. You will get to the Alma - Arasan, recreation area. Big Almaty gorge, where at an altitude of 2,510 m above sea level located the Big Almaty lake - one of the most picturesque lakes in Trans-Ili Alatau. Hiking and free time. Departure to the traditional restaurant for the private cooking class. Assisted by chef of restaurant, you will learn and experience the culinary technique of traditional Kazakh cuisine. Cooking an authentic Kazakh cuisine that includes one main dish: Koktal, Plov or Kuyrdak. Koktal is a dish of Asian cuisine. It is a fish smoked with vegetables in a hot way. Usually, freshwater species are used for this dish, as a rule, a carp, and vegetables such as tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and others. Plov. Commonly plov is cooked with rice, fresh mutton or beef, yellow or red carrot, onions and vegetable oil. Kuyrdak is a traditional dish of Central Asia, which cooked using mutton organ meat: lungs, liver kidney, heart. The name of the dish comes from the word “қуыру”– to fry. 14:00 Lunch including two types of salads, two types of starters, samosa with meat and tea with local sweets. 16:00 Departure to the Sunkar falcon farm .On the way back to the town you will visit the Falcon Farm, where you will enjoy a spectacular show with specially trained hawks - hunting with them is one of the most unique features of the Kazakh way of life. 17:00 Birds of prey show. Sunkar was originally established to protect the falcon, whose numbers dropped alarmingly in the ’80s and ’90s, when a thriving market developed to export the birds to Arabia for big money. Habitat degradation and the impact of agrochemicals are other big issues confronting almost all birds of prey in Kazakhstan. 18:00 Transfer to the Almaty. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel

3 Day

Kolsai kolderi national park 08:00 early breakfast at the hotel and departure 11:00 arrival to Saty village and transfer to Kaindy lake (11 km off road). Kayndy lake was formed in 1911 after a huge earthquake that resulted in a big landslide from the eastern slope. The rockslide “place of origin” can still be seen today, because it has not been overgrown yet. The uniqueness of the lake is that after the rise of natural dam that blocked the gorge, water that filled a basin has formed a lake but has not destroyed the spruce that had been growing in this place along the river. Lunch (outdoor picnic) and transfer to Kolsay lake1. Kolsay Lakes – one of the most beautiful places in Kazakhstan. These lakes are located at heights 2250 and 2700 meters above sea level. They are distinguished by the unique mountain watershed consisting of three natural zones and amazing variety of rare plants and animals. Hiking around the lake. Return to the guesthouse. 18:00 dinner. Night stay at the guesthouse

4 Day

Charyn canyon Breakfast at the guesthouse. 09:00 departure to Charyn canyon. 10:00 arrival to Charyn canyon. The canyon has been described as the Grand canyon’s little brother and is considered to be the floor of the ancient ocean Tethys. The erosion made by the river Charyn below and the elements created a dramatic and impressive landscape. The Charyn canyon itself is approximately 150 km and in some places up to 300 m deep. Free time. Lunch and departure to the border. Border crossing procedures. Meeting with your guide at Karkara border point, followed by ride to Karakol city where we will visit "Holy Trinity Cathedral" and the Dungan mosque in Karakol. This day will be devoted to spinning and making national woolen carpets in Jarkymbaevo village. After all that we will drive to the place of our night stay – Semyonovka village where you will stay in small guest houses which are cared by the local orphanage

5 Day

Tamchy village Today after breakfast we will continue our way to the village of Tamchy located on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in Kyrgyzstan – Issyk-Kul lake. We will be welcomed by a local family where we will learn how to make woolen coasters. The hostess will show us how to dye wool and stick elements together. Our evening will be free and we will have a chance to go to the shores of Issyk-Kul. Dinner at the home of local residents and overnight

6 Day

Tokmok town In the morning after breakfast we will drive to the town of Tokmok. Not far from it we will visit the Historical and Archaeological Complex - Burana Tower.The Burana Tower (minaret) is located on the site of the ancient city, 90 km from the capital - Bishkek. Historians and archaeologists have proved that the settlement was the capital of the KarakhanidKhanate and was called Balasagun. Balasagun was founded in the mid of 10th century and the Burana Tower is now the central monument of the complex. After the excursion we will stop at the home of local residents. After lunch with the older woman you will go to the local bazaar to buy vegetables, spices and other things for the national dish you will be cooking this evening. Coming home you will learn how to cook such national dish as “manty” and some easy salads. Dinner and overnight

7 Day

Tokmok – Bishkek This day we will drive to Bishkek - the capital of Kyrgyzstan and the biggest city in the country. It has many places to see. There are some large museums; the center of the town is dappled by the show bills of Opera and Ballet Theater, Russian and Kyrgyz theaters, Bishkek Theater of Drama and National Philharmonic. There are many places reminding people of the Soviet Union period of time. The influence of that epoch is mostly felt in the center where you may still see the row of soviet architecture buildings: Philharmonic, Government building, Historical museum, Victory monument. But you will also be able to see the modern samples of Kyrgyz architecture: Manas monument, monument of Courage. Bishkek remembers its history and will definitely tell it to everybody who wants to visit this small but cozy capital. The town is also known to be one of the most ecological towns of the world due to a lot of green parks keeping the shadow and coolness even on the hottest summer day. Today we will go with you on a city tour. We will walk through the center of the town, go to the central mall in which you may find one floor filled with craft products. We will also visit Osh bazaar where you will dive into the busy local life with people selling and buying, try local round bread “lepyoshka” and buy some fresh fruits. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Cancellation policy

Payments & Cancellations

When you book a reservation for a Product through the Website, Steppe and Sky collects your payment information and processes your payment as described below under "Payment Processing". Steppe and Sky accepts the following credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, American Express. Also Steppe and Sky travel can issue invoices to your name.  Full payment by credit or debit card is required to make a reservation.

No refunds are available once a tour or service has commenced, or in respect of any package, accommodation, meals or any other services utilized.

If you wish to cancel a reservation made via the Website, the supplier's cancellation policy contained in the applicable product listing will apply to, and govern the terms of, your cancellation and any refunds. When canceling a booking, you will be notified via email the total refund amount you will receive, if any.

The standard cancellation policy for Customers is:

  1. a 90 % refund for cancellations made at least 15 days  in advance of the start date of the experience. (Except for the tours to Baikonur Cosmodrome, see point 5)
  2. a 60% refund for cancellations made later than at least 15 days in advance of the start date of experience. Unless the Customer could not inform the Steppe and Sky travel due to the force-majeure reasons.
  3. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the experience will receive no refund.
  4. In case of no-show the Customer will receive no refund.
  5. For the tours to Baikonur Cosmodrome the following penalties apply:

5.1 a 90% refund for cancellations made after the payment is made before the permission from Roscosmos State Corporation is received.

5.2. a 80% refund in case of cancellation of the tour after receiving permission to visit the Cosmodrome  Baikonur by Roscosmos , regardless of the time.

5.3. a 0% refund for cancellations made 14 days prior to the tour start.

5.4. a 80% refund in case when Roscosmos refuses the Customer  in permission to visit the spaceport (Cosmodrome Baikonur),

5.5. a 80% refund is applicable when Roscosmos either transfers or cancels the launch of the spacecraft, unless  the Customer chooses to use  the tour package of ‘between launches’ period, in this case the cost of the tour is recalculated and the difference is transferred to the account of the Customer.

The value of the transaction may be subject to taxes, duties, foreign transaction, currency exchange or other fees. Your bank or credit or debit card company may convert the payment into the local currency and charge fees, resulting in differences between the amount displayed on Steppe and Sky Travel and the final amount charged to your bank account or credit or debit card statement. Please contact your bank or card company if you have any questions concerning any applicable conversion or fees.
